Thus marks the end of an era, and the end of Cortland’s story here on Comic Genesis. Thanks for reading! If you’d like to read any of the comics I’m doing now, hop on over to Out at Five.
Hello, everybody! If you can’t tell, my old web comic now has a new home on my own server running WordPress. This will be immensely easier to update than ever before, which seems strange since the comic ended back in 2008. Will there be any new comic strips for Cortland? It’s not likely, but if that ever happens adding a new one will be much easier. Of course, my old comic at Comic Genesis is staying up as well. Because redundancy.
In the meantime, you can check out Out at Five, a comic I happen to be updating (and has most of the same characters from Cortland anyway, so it’s really like Cortland never ended at all!)
Cortland’s story has finally come to an end, but I’m still drawing comics at my new website, OutatFive.com. You’ll see many of the same characters (and several new ones) in a new comic updating every Monday and Friday. I hope you’ll stop by and check it out!
If you’re new to Cortland, you have a few years of archives to enjoy right here. I’m not planning on taking them down anytime soon, but I do have a couple print comics if you’d like to have one. Send me an e-mail if you’re interested.
I’ve had quite a journey drawing Cortland for the last couple of years, and there’s way too much I could say to fit inside one little epilogue here. From the early days on ATPM to his home on Comic Genesis, the Cortland comic strip has introduced me to some of the best friends I’ve ever had online and around the world. It’s been something of a world tour, meeting up St. Louis, Toronto, and even London to draw the spiky-haired cherub with other comic artists from around the world.
Like all things, however, I have to draw Cortland to a close. I’m not going to stop drawing comics, but I’m in a significantly different place than I was years ago when I first started drawing him. I’m a happily married man living in a new city, and I have a whole new cast of character in the comic of life. For the next couple of months, I’ll be going on a kind of sabbatical, trying some new things and figuring out what kind of comic I’d like to draw next. Watch this space for more news on that.
In the meantime, I’ll be keeping my blog up to date with the real-life adventures I’m having here in Omaha. I can’t express how many warm fuzzies I feel knowing people really do read my comic, and I hope when I return to the drawing board that I’ll have something you’ll all enjoy.
We’ll see you then!
I’m now wed to the lovely Vivian Taber, and we’re still settling into our new home after our week-long honeymoon in Maine. Comics will be forthcoming again soon.
I thought I might be able to squeeze in one more comic before I tie the knot this weekend, but I’m afraid at this point it probably isn’t happening. Cortland’s adventures will resume after I get back from the honeymoon. That’ll be around August 1 or so. Thanks for staying on, everybody. The story here is just about finished.
