That's all folks

The text from this comic is taken from Apple's first "Think Different" TV spot from 1997. I couldn't think of any other way to send Cortland off into the sunset.

Thanks for the awesome trip, Matt. It's been a wonderful few years and I hope that you'll find some time in your new life to treat the world to more of your work.

Sooner or later, you'll need a hobby!

The end of an era
Posted on 2008-10-06 at 12:00:00
I've had quite a journey drawing Cortland for the last couple of years, and there's way too much I could say to fit inside one little epilogue here. From the early days on ATPM to his home on Comic Genesis, the Cortland comic strip has introduced me to some of the best friends I've ever had online and around the world. It's been something of a world tour, meeting up St. Louis, Toronto, and even London to draw the spiky-haired cherub with other comic artists from around the world.

Like all things, however, I have to draw Cortland to a close. I'm not going to stop drawing comics, but I'm in a significantly different place than I was years ago when I first started drawing him. I'm a happily married man living in a new city, and I have a whole new cast of character in the comic of life. For the next couple of months, I'll be going on a kind of sabbatical, trying some new things and figuring out what kind of comic I'd like to draw next. Watch this space for more news on that.

In the meantime, I'll be keeping my blog up to date with the real-life adventures I'm having here in Omaha. I can't express how many warm fuzzies I feel knowing people really do read my comic, and I hope when I return to the drawing board that I'll have something you'll all enjoy.

We'll see you then!
Back from the honeymoon

I'm now wed to the lovely Vivian Taber, and we're still settling into our new home after our week-long honeymoon in Maine. Comics will be forthcoming again soon.

In the meantime, we have pictures to share from both our wedding and our honeymoon for you all to enjoy.
On hiatus: getting married

I thought I might be able to squeeze in one more comic before I tie the knot this weekend, but I'm afraid at this point it probably isn't happening. Cortland's adventures will resume after I get back from the honeymoon. That'll be around August 1 or so. Thanks for staying on, everybody. The story here is just about finished.
Another Update, Bachelor Party

I've been quite busy getting ready to be married in one week, though I've been using my lunchbreaks at work to continue my comic. It's been working out great, and I can see myself doing this a lot more down the road. Anyhow, enjoy the latest comic, and I'm hoping to get one more out the door before the honeymoon!

I'm working on a comic tonight, but I got a bit sidetracked by a tornado and likely won't be able to finish it up until this Saturday. Stay tuned. Cortland will return to a more normal schedule before you know it. ;-)
